The Company was founded by Michael Ossberger as a machine factory in Thalmaessing. With a deep interest in engineering the Founder developed & manufactured Agricultural Machinery & Equipment.
Michael's elder son, Carl, took over the OSSBERGER Company. Carl further developed his Company's relationships with manufacturers of large harvesting equipment whilst working also on building his own designs of other agricultural machinery.
The Founder's second son established "Civil.Ing. Fritz Ossberger Apparate und Muehlenbau". Invention of recoilless motor start-up handle. Affiliation with A.G.M. Michell and his "Radial Flow Turbine" leading to development of the "Free Jet Turbine" (1922, Imperial Patent No. 361593) and the "Cross Flow Turbine" (1933, Imperial Patent No. 615445).
The Company moved to Weissenburg, its current location. By the end of World War II more than 2,000 Cross Flow Turbines had been installed within the territory of the former German Empire.
The Company was taken over by Eng. Karl Ossberger. The difficult postwar years saw the unification of both OSSBERGER companies and their consolidation which led to the new Company becoming a manufacturer of small hydro power plants with worldwide activities under the name "Ossberger-Turbinenfabrik".
This year saw the first small hydro power plant delivery to the continent of Africa.
With the creation of the new plastic machine department, OSSBERGER established the manufacturing capability for the "PRESSBLOWER" series of injection blow moulder machines which make precision hollow bodies from plastic materials.
This year witnessed the commissioning of the first OSSBERGER-produced Trashrack Cleaner System intended for run-of-the-river hydro plants.
After the death of Eng. Karl Ossberger, the Company was taken over by Mrs Dina Ossberger. She expanded the worldwide activities of the OSSBERGER Company.
A subsidiary, OSSBERGER Turbines Inc., was founded in Richmond, Virginia, USA. Dr. Karl-Friedrich Ossberger entered the Company.
